The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) is taking another bold step to support national athletes and coaches, not just in sports but in their financial well-being. Following the recent ₱5,000 across-the-board increase in their monthly salaries, which took effect this month, PSC has partnered with Maya, the country’s #1 all-in-one digital bank, to make managing finances faster, safer, and smarter.
Through a Memorandum of Understanding signed recently, PSC and Maya are introducing a cashless, automated allowance disbursement system for all national athletes and coaches. This upgrade streamlines administrative work for sports officials, giving athletes and coaches more time to focus on training and competition. The system also ensures secure, transparent transactions for National Sports Associations (NSAs), improving governance and accountability.
Maya Group President and Maya Bank Co-Founder Shailesh Baidwan underscored that the collaboration is about more than just payments. “This partnership is about giving our athletes the support they deserve both on and off the field. Together with PSC, we are building a stronger financial foundation for Philippine sports and helping empower every Filipino athlete to reach world-class status.”
Baidwan also expressed Maya’s commitment to extending its expertise to PSC’s grassroots sports programs, including Batang Pinoy and the Philippine National Games, by working with stakeholders to streamline financial processes in these community-driven events.
PSC Chairman John Patrick “Pato” Gregorio highlighted the agency’s vision. “PSC is committed to changing the game in sports governance by embracing digitalization and making it easier to serve the needs of our athletes and the entire sports community. Our athletes give their all for the country. This collaboration ensures their support is just as strong, swift, secure, and transparent.”DANNY SIMON
