AIMS' TOP BRASS ARLENE ABUID - PADERANGA BEST STAGE ACTRESS PAR EXCELLENCE

Everybody who watched one of the best stage play can't help but show their appreciation with round of applause at the lights capping the play at the Sining Maritimo,the theatre arm of the Asian Institute of Maritime Studies( AIMS) that staged 'The Moon and Bakunawa- A Dementia Carer Story last weekend written by Nitoy Chan,Jr at the Jeyne Offemaria- Abuid Auditorium at AIMS Tower in Pasay City.

The play brought together themes of dementia caregivibg and Philippinw folklore through the story of Mamay ,a mother living with dementia,and her son Tonyong who has served as her full time caregiver in many years.Through their daily interaction and repeated recollections of past memories,the play examines the challenge faced by families navigating dimentia.

Philippine mythology,the legend of Bakunawa, a serpent believed in folklore to swallow the moon,the myth's narrative serves as a methapor for memory loss,reflecting how Mamay's memories fade, return and shift overtime.

AIMS president Arlene Abuid-Paderanga,highly acclaimed stage actress during her prime was inspired in her encounter in the play during its run in Australia that resonated with her personal experience caring for her mother who lived with dimentia prompting efforts that brought the story to Philippine audiences through Sining Maritimo.

A full one - hour plus no dull moment play that got full attention really gave justice to a real stage act from Madam Arlene and Remus Villanueva - best actress and actor par excellence.

AIMS is inviting the public to watch quality and real life stage plays live at the Pasay Tower and Online.
