AUSTRALIA IMBITADO SA BIMP- EAGA GAMES SA PUERTO PRINCESA

Dahil ang pananaw at layunin ng BIMP-EAGA ay mà-promote ang sports at economic growth sa rehiyon, balak kumbidahin ang Australia na sumali sa nasabing kumpètisyon na lalarga sa December1-5 sa Puerto Princesa, Palawan.

Laging sumasali ang Pilpinas sa Arafura Games sa Darwin, Australia mula panahon ni Philippine Olympic Committee president at dating Philippine Sports Commission Commissioner Celso Dayrit.

Ang Darwin ay malapit sa Davao at maraming atletang taga -Davao ang sumasali sa taunan competition may motto na “sporting neighbors” ng kaganapang kalahok ang mga bansa sa Asia Oceania kasama ang Indonesia.

“We are contemplating inviting Australia to join BIMP EAGA,” sabi ni PSC Commissioner and chairperson Walter Torres.

Tulad sa Arafura Games, ang layunin ng BIMP EAGA ay na- promote ang friendship, unity, mutual understanding at solidarity pareho sa sports and economic growth ng mga iyembrong bansa sa region.

“Hindi lang sports competition sa mga atleta sa apat na mga bansa, ito rin ay naglalayong mapaunlad ang kalakaran at ekonomiya sa region,” pahayag ni ng dating national fencer naglaro sa 1992 Barcelona Olympics.

Ang BIMP ay binubuo ng Pilpinas, Brunei, Indonesia at Malaysia. Huling nilaro ang tournament sa Jakarta, Indonesia.

“It’s not just friendly sports competition, more than that, to spur economic growth and development to improve the quality of life in the region,” pahayag ni Torres.

“Sports is an effective vehicle bridging economic growth and self-sufficiency especially those living in remote areas in four countries,” wika ni Torres.

“Looking at the brighter side of the competition, I am pretty sure the event will attain success like in the past stagings of the tournament,” pagsisiguro ni Torres.

“PSC explored all possibilities, utilized its potentials ang manpower to see to it the competition achieves significant milestone in sports and economic growth in the region."

Si Torres ay chairperson din ng ASEAN Para Games, Asian Para Games at Paralympics.

Mahigit 1,000 na mga atleta sa apat na bansa ang magpapaligsahan sa walong sports sa limang araw na ecotourism sports tampok ang athletics, archery, badminton, karate, swimming, sepak takraw, pencak silat at esports.
