Games and Amusements Board (GAB) Chairman Atty. Francisco J. Rivera held a productive meeting with Messrs. Jun D. Lasco and John Salcedo regarding the staging of the much-anticipated Manny Pacquiao (MP) Chess Philippines at the GAB Central Office in Makati City.

The event will be sponsored by Senator Manny Pacquiao, who, aside from being a legendary Filipino professional boxer, is also an avid and skilled chess player—highlighting his continued advocacy for the development of chess in the Philippines.

The meeting served as a platform for preliminary discussions, focusing on the requirements, support, and services that GAB will provide in the issuance of permits and licenses to professionalize the event and ensure its smooth conduct under the Agency’s supervision and regulation.

GAB Chairman Atty. Rivera expressed his enthusiasm for the event, noting that it also serves as a grassroots sports program for the youth aimed to discover new talents who will be given the opportunity to become professional athletes and, ultimately, the nation’s future roster of chess prodigies.DANNY SIMON
