Carlos Yulo showed his readiness and strong determination to win the elusive gold in Paris when the Filipino gymnast virtuoso got the precious medal in the International Gymnastic Federation World Cup in Doha, Qatar.

The 24 years old Japan-based born in Manila romped away the gold in men’s parallel bar with 15,200 points, beating Chinese Taipei Hung Yuan Hsi and Brazil Calo Souza, who got the silver and bronze with 14,966 and 14,566 points, respectively.

It was double celebration the country and Levi Jung Ruivivar secured the silver in uneven bar and trip ticket to Paris joining Yulo and Aleah Finnegan where the Philippines celebrates its 100 years participation in the Olympics since 1924 in Paris with David Nepomuceno was the lone Pinoy entry in the 100m and 200m.

The 17 years old Ruivivar became the tenth Pinoy and third gymnast booked a trip tickets to Paris.

The triumph of Yulo finally erased his disappointment where he failed to win the gold in vault and his effort was good only for silver with 15, 066 points, behind winner Armenian Artur Davtyan 15,166 points.

However, Filipino-American Emma Malabuyo failed to earn trip ticket to Paris ending in floor exercise. The Pinay placed second in floor exercise with 69 points, and dropped to third behind Austria’s Charlize Moerz and Spain Laura Casabuena.

Malabuyo failed to land in the Olympics placed 10th in the qualification in Doha, Qatar. It’s not over yet for Malabuyo. She has to outpoint Casabuena, who had 45 points in two World Cup legs.

Malabuyo submitted 12 points in Qatar accumulated 69 points. The top three with the highest scores will be considered for Olympic rankings. She has to win in the Asian Artistic Gymnastics on May 2-5 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

According to International Gymnastic Federation, 318 gymnasts compete in gymnastics with 54 medals at stake. A total of 192 at stake in artistic, 94 rhythmic and 32 trampoline.
