THE Philippines is set to welcome the region’s best as Manila hosts the 2026 East Asia Baseball Cup at the newly renovated Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium this December.

Six nations are expected to compete, including the Philippines, Singapore, Hong Kong and Thailand, with Hataw Pilipinas entering the tournament as defending champion after capturing a record-extending fifth East Asia Cup title in 2024.

The tournament will also showcase a transformed Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium, which is undergoing its biggest facelift since opening in 1934.

Plans include a retrofitted 10,000-seat grandstand, a digital scoreboard and all-weather artificial turf built to international standards—giving Philippine baseball a home worthy of its rich history. The legendary venue once hosted Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig, who famously homered there during an exhibition game in 1934.

Led by captain and pitcher Romeo Jasmin, along with veterans Ferdinand “Bong” Liguayan Jr., Mark Steven Manaig, Jenald Pareja and rising star Mark Beronilla, Hataw Pilipinas will now look to defend its regional crown in front of the home crowd.

After years of success in Southeast Asian baseball, another East Asia Cup title would provide a huge boost as the country continues strengthening its program from the grassroots to the national team.
