Hongkong---Filipino FIDE Master Alekhine Nouri made the country proud anew after collecting his first gold medal at the Asian Amateur Chess Championships nere on Friday, August 1,2025.

The 19-year-old Nouri, a two-time national juniors champion, pulled a stunning win over Arena Grandmaster Johnny Wellem Carzano of the Philippines in the eight and penultimate round then halving the point with FIDE Master Christian Mark Daluz of the Philippines in the ninth and final round of the FIDE blitz to finish with 8.5 points on account of eight wins and a draw in nine outings.

" I am happy to win the gold medal in the blitz competition of the Asian Amateur Chess Championships," said Nouri, playing under the guidance of National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) chairman/President Prospero "Butch" Pichay Jr.

FIDE Master Khishigbat Ulziikhishig of Mongolia, Recarte Tiauson and Lo Aristotle Nikolai Calica of the Philippines finished the tournament with similar 8.0 points while Daluz, FIDE Chun Yung Samuel Lam of Hongkong and Carzano have identical 7.5 points.

FIDE Master Ekaterina Borisova of Russia won the gold in the women's division with 8.5 points.

Woman Candidate Master Kristina Kim of Kazakhstan finished second with 7.5 points followed by Woman FIDE Master Allanney Jia Doroy of the Philippines with 7.0 points.

Woman Candidate Master Angelo Ruth Nugroho of Indonesia, Woman FIDE Master Mukherjee Bristy of India, Chowdhury Diya of India and Woman Candidate Master Nika Juris Nicolas of the Philippines finished the tournament with similar 6.5 points.-

NOURI
