NOW that the Asian Games wrapped its 20th edition as hosted by the port city of Achi-Nagoya in Japan, what follows next is celebration, praising the athletes who've shone the brightest in the said competition, brought huge honor to our country that worked so hard in its long and arduous preparations, prior to their participation.

Upon coming home, a red carpet or thicker tape parade waits them. Aside from this merry making and countless praises from all sectors of the society. There's one nagging issues that confronts a successful campaign and failure of another.

That is politics in sports. Yes. its been there for quite a while like an open secret that been talked about behind the sporting headlines and beyond close door conference. Years ago a group of .seasoned and young sports journalist bonded together and come up with a new field of endeavor, covering, writing and publishing news beyond athletes' triumph. Aside from that, the main essence of the group is to publised training, budgeting, recruitment program and policy making of National Sports Association (NSA). Later on. a former co-league termed it "Sports Politics"

The so called sports politics. played a very influential role, with an oversight function of sort, at same time servicing a check and balance body. which had been asked from time to time by heads of the NSA with regards how to manage the association's preparation, training activities, recruitment of athletes to be send abroad for exposure prior to their respective international competition.

Like in the previous discussion. the group can serve as check and balance "oversight" body, its also exposes the dark side of the NSA heads, citing alleged favoritism in choosing the athletes, training budget cuts and NSA head's failure to give Bagunas high level of exposure that should given their wards experience and developed their individual skills that can meet and be at par with athletes with superior talents.

Like in the case of weightlifting head and former Philippine Sports Commissioner (PSC) Monico Puentevella, who cited politics in sports almost taken its toll during the 2022 Tokyo Olympics, wherein allegedly he said during the Senate Hearing of sports development, recently, they get didn't much attention from the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC), Despite that, we (weighting) produced the country:s first ever Olympic Medal in the person of Hidilyn Diaz he said.

As if that wasn't enough, the former Bacolod Representative came blazing with a revelation of volleyball player Bryan Bagumas, who captained the men's Alas Pilipinas in the Achi-Nagoya Games, that POC fell short in support financially and that politics got in the way and pointed that accused POC is medling with NSA/s policy. he also cited the during the Paris Games the POC interfered in their policy of sending athletes that resulted the weightlifting came home empty handed.

Puentevella's accusation came from a social media post from Bagumas, who said that due to lack in support, their allowance has been delayed for almost three months and that they have to barrow money from other athletes during Nagoya stint, to buy food, following the Games' organizers failure to provide proper food, which was the organizers' "Black-Eye" in as far as hosting the Games is concern.

These allegation of accusation should not go passed by, it should deal with utmost attention, while looking after our athletes wellbeing and kept away the dirty practices of the our sports leaders. In countries like China, North Korea, Japan and among other. Sports leader failure to deliver what they have expected from are force to resign and striped off opportunity and to handle athletic profession, (Our sports leaders should also emulate from those example).

Next year, our athletes are competing two separate international competition, the 34th Southeast Asian Games slated to be by Malaysia and the First SEA Plus Youth Games to be hosted by City of Cebu, I hope the POC and other government agencies won't screw up bangle this opportunity with zero corruption. We have our eyes on you.
