Bachmann attended the opening of the lawn tennis games Sunday morning at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Court before touring the other facilities inside the country's historic first sports complex to host Batang Pinoy and Philippine National Games sports (BP_PNG ).
"I am hoping that many of our participating young athletes will be selected and discovered by our NSAs. I am happy to see many of our young athletes playing here in our facilities,” said Bachmann, after touring the sports activities such as weightlifting, swimming, badminton and 3x3 basketball that will be held at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
Meanwhile, the elimination and medal events of a total of 25 sports are at stake in the twin tournaments that will be held simultaneously for the first time in history.
Nine gold medals are scheduled to be contested in the Batang Pinoy Weightlifting including the 12U Boys 32kg., 12U Boys 37kg., 12U Girls 30kg., 13-15 Boys 37kg., 12U Boys 43kg., 16-17 Men's 43kg., 13- 15 Boys 43kg., 12U Girls 35kg., and 13-15 Girls 35kg.
Action has also started in Batang Pinoy Boys and Girls Lawn Tennis where Lorenz De Jesus of Rizal won first over Kyle Andrei Saga of Bukidnon, 6-4,-61, while Sabine Dasha Chan See of Pasig won, 6-3. , 6-0, against Maria Janine Cadiz of Caoayan.
Lance Kim Lesaca of Zambales won against Glo John Manito of Cebu City, 6-0, 6-0, while Cyrus Nathaniel Ogaob of Zamboanga Del Sur defeated Mark Lorence of Manikina, 6-0-6-1.
Adam Dane Tiongson of Nueva Viscaya defeated Daniel Jose Neri of Mandaue City in a super tie break, 4-6, 7-6, and 10-9. Christine Mae Gula-Gula of Dapitan won over Jasmine Jaran of La Carlota, 6-4, 6-3.
