The Philippine Amateur Baseball Association (PABA) proudly announces the return of Baseball in the Batang Pinoy National Championships to be held in Bacolod City in December 2026, following the go signal given by Philippine Sports Commission Chairman Patrick “Pato” Gregorio through the leadership of POC Commissioner Olivia “Bong” Coo, head commissioner of Batang Pinoy 2026. The return of baseball to one of the country’s premier grassroots sporting events marks another important step in the continuing development of Philippine baseball at the youth level.
For the first time in Philippine baseball history, a Girls 15 Under Youth Baseball Tournament will be held as part of Batang Pinoy 2026 alongside the boys division, marking a historic breakthrough for women’s baseball in the country. This milestone forms part of the long term grassroots development program of PABA aimed at strengthening both men’s and women’s baseball while creating greater opportunities for young athletes from different regions of the Philippines to compete, develop, and aspire to become future members of the national team.
PABA also expresses its sincere gratitude to Bacolod City Mayor Greg Gasataya for hosting Batang Pinoy 2026 and for his strong support for baseball development. Together with PSC Chairman Pato Gregorio, PABA Vice President Manny De Castro, Secretary General Mike Asuncion, Men’s National Baseball Team Head Coach Lando Binarao, Assistant National Team Coach Iking Jimenez, and U18 National Team Coach Vladi Eguia, Mayor Gasataya personally visited different sites in Bacolod City that are being considered and developed as baseball venues for the competition. Their collective efforts reflect a shared commitment to grassroots sports development and to building a stronger future for Philippine baseball. (Danny Simon)
