RTU is overall champ in ROTC Luzon/NCR Games

TAGAYTAY City -- Rizal Technological University-Boni asserted its mastery to emerge as the overall champion in the Philippine Army unit with 42 golds, 18 silvers and seven bronzes in the 2nd Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) Games Luzon NCR Leg held in Indang, Cavite.

TAGAYTAY City -- Rizal Technological University-Boni asserted its mastery to emerge as the overall champion in the Philippine Army unit with 42 golds, 18 silvers and seven bronzes in the 2nd Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) Games Luzon NCR Leg held in Indang, Cavite.

The gold medal haul by RTU cadets came mostly in arnis, taekwondo, boxing, athletics, and swimming.

In the swimming competition, RTU-Boni swimmer Alvin Marticion claimed six gold medals in the boys' 50m butterfly, 100m butterfly, 50m freestyle, 200m Individual Medley, 200m relay, and 200m freestyle relay events.

The Top Five in the Army bracket included the University of Baguio (9-5-1), Polytechnic University of the Philippines (6-8-6), Central Bicol State University of Agriculture-Pili (4-6-3), and Don Honorio Ventura University (4-5-3).

"This is the biggest qualifying leg ng 2nd Philippine ROTC Games in terms of number of colleges and universities na sumali," ani Sen. Francis Tolentino, ang may orihinal na konsepto ng torneo para sa mga school cadets. "Kaya very, very successful itong Luzon Leg."

Bumandera naman sa Philippine Navy bracket ang De La Salle University-Manila sa kinolektang 27 ginto, 7 pilak at 4 tansong medalya. Tampok sa pananalasa ng mga Green Archers ang tig-limang golds nina swimmers Kirk Dominique Reyes at Janelle Kyla Chua.

Pumangalawa sa La Salle ang Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific (19-15-26), Philippine Merchant Marine Academy (12-13-8, Manuel Enverga University Foundation (8-13-3) at Virgen Milagrosa University Foundation (7-4-1).

Samantala, nanguna sa Philippine Air Force ang Philippine State College of Aeronautics sa hinakot na 22 golds, 17 silvers at 12 bronzes kasunod ang Philippine State College of Aeronautics-FAB (19-17-15), Fullbright College (11-5-5), Kolehiyo ng Lungsod ng Lipa (8-5-4) at PATTS College of Aeronautics (6-1-3).

Ang mga gold at silver medalists sa 14 sports events ay maglalaro sa National Finals ng ROTC Games na suportado ng Department of National Defense, Commissioner on Higher Education at Philippine Sports Commission.

"Medyo konti na iyon (National Finals) kasi iyon na lang ang mga best of the best sa Visayas, sa Luzon at sa Mindanao Legs. So mas maganda na ang labanan lalo sa mga combat sports," ani Tolentino.
