Wangs Basketball officially celebrated its 28th year last June 01, 2024, Saturday, through a simple dinner with all the people who worked behind the scenes.
Despite the challenges posed by COVID-19, Wangs Basketball has achieved significant milestones. One of the most memorable triumphs was securing the Philippine National Interclub championship, a feat made more remarkable with players from South Korea and Vietnam. Additionally, the team's commendable 3rd-place finish in the recent PBA D-League, trailing only behind La Salle and San Beda, further showcases Wangs' strength and talent within the local basketball scene.
We are proud to have been part of the journey of now-successful PBA players such as Allein Maliksi, Beau Belga, Boy Quinto, Robbie Herdon, Frank Yu, Ian Sangalang, Jerrick Balanza, and a lot more.
Other former players now excel in different fields. Some are basketball coaches and assistant coaches, and many are successful in business and as leaders in the corporate world, like Edrick Ferrer, Chito Ama, Mario Reyes, Ron Manalang, and others now based abroad.
Now, Wangs Basketball is focusing on a program for players aged 18 and under, training students as well as out-of-school youths. The team was able to develop players and help them successfully join their school’s varsity teams. This dedication to nurture the next generation of athletes inspired Wangs to rename the club as Wangs Athletes Support.
On its 28th year, the decision to rename the club reflects its evolving mission and broader commitment to supporting athletes in various aspects of their lives. It's a testament to Wangs' vision of not just being a basketball team but a holistic support system for athletes at all levels.
Indeed, the future looks bright for Wangs Basketball, now Wangs Athletes Support, and we are humbled and grateful for everyone’s continued support.
