Quezon City, Philippines – The Wushu Arena Philippines Team, affectionately known as the "WuNa Team," is gearing up for a packed schedule of competitions, starting with the Emei Cup 2025: Chengdu International Wushu Championships this August in Sichuan, China.

Under the tutelage of seasoned martial artist and international medalist Coach Arra Jeuneze Corpuz, the team is set to tackle 20 events in both modern and traditional wushu categories in Chengdu. Their routines will feature a diverse array of barehand styles and weapons, including straight swords, double daggers, nunchucks, and the distinctive deer horn blades.

The WuNa Team is no stranger to success. Following a remarkable performance at the 20th Hong Kong International Wushu Championships last March, where they clinched 45 out of 46 medals, the team is poised for even greater challenges. Their impressive track record also includes winning 3 of 4 medals at the NCR Meet and 10 of 11 medals at the Manila Tune Up Games, demonstrating their consistent excellence.

The roster for Chengdu includes returning medalists Luyi Corpuz, Charles Ramirez, Carl Ramirez, Bede Ramirez, and Shaina Liwanag, who will compete across various age divisions from Infant to Masters. Coach Corpuz will also lead by example, competing in the Youth Division. The competition will feature a wide range of routines, such as Changquan, Taijiquan, Baguazhang, Wudang styles, and specialty events like Pair Taichi Fan (Duilian Taijishan).

Following their international foray, the WuNa Team's youth athlete will also participate in the Batang Pinoy games in General Santos City from late October until the end of the month. This domestic competition provides another vital platform for the young martial artists to hone their skills and compete against top talent in the Philippines.

With months of intensive preparation ahead for both events, the WuNa Team is actively seeking support to cover the significant travel and training expenses. Fundraising efforts are underway to help meet a portion of the projected ₱45,000 budget per athlete for the Chengdu trip and Gen San trip, which will require over a week of accommodation, uniform/gear, food, and logistics for the delegation.
